Bowels of Love

Gentle reminder of cosmos

little delicates tied to be protected
they are innocent, likely to be noticed!
Just like red roses in a bowel of white sand,
They stand out and resemble what’s within.

What is it?

Like a man in love

eyes are blinded by affection,
sometimes illusion and things

go in slow motion.
It all goes deep down to be felt in the bones,

feelings cannot be swayed
by mere mortals!

It’s bowels of love that reflect,

take charge and dissolve one’s heart
bound to attract like iron filings,
which can’t resist magnet

that’s just bowels of love in motion.

Digging deep one’s heart for love,

it’s a gift that was given to human kind
pure and true for those who nurture it

as love knows no colour,
no one can temper with love,
as it is far too precious to be messed.
You can taint it but not destroy it

because it’s in the bowels
that guard it with affection.

Love,
a gift to human kind.

Love Once Again

I thought me and love never clicked

so I tried giving up, thinking that,
me and you were history.

The thought twisted my mind,
over and over again.

I tried forgetting about you

but it was beyond impossible,
you came,

I pushed you away,
but you never gave up on me.
Endless love, is what we shared,
this made me love you more.

Months of needing you,

longing and waiting for you my loved one,
my one and only
I need you,
I need your love
and your heart.

I love you with your flaws,

I love you despite the past
The good always outweighed the bad

I love you,
with good intentions.

I love you because you love me
you are the world of my heart
I love you because I love you.

Purest Red

I have seen passionate red

Heartbreaks and crushes.
I have seen painful red when mothers
squeeze their off springs into families

I have seen beautiful red,
when my best friend felt my mood,

then labelled us as soulmates
but I have seen a pure red,
which makes females giggle;
If it comes with roses.

I saw it not in March or April

when freedom is celebrated,
not in May,

When our younger sister turns another year.
Neither was it in June or July
the months of wool and ice,

nor in August when blood shed is appreciated.
It was never in September or October

when bare skin mesmerizes adolescent males,
not in November when matrimonial union is

forbidden,
neither was it in December
Nor January when just at midnight,
the whole calendar changes.

I have seen a pure red

when beautiful shades are broadcasted
when roses are only appreciated in red
when the only browns are chocolates

when scents are splashed as gifts,
when expressions of romantic affection are cards

when females become objects of love and
males taste chocolate.

I have seen the purest expectant red

when the talk is proved
when no return gifts supply nights with silence
when teenage boys trade allowances for a rose

when it’s not from subtracting;

3

Green and blue from white
when it’s from a lover who subtracts unfaithfulness.

adds scents and roses,
producing happy red wearing smiles!

I have seen the purest red

when you my beloved,
being the radiance of its purest shades
when your scent is like that of dark chocolate
when all you become is red paint in my thoughts
when it becomes a compulsory heart colour,

catching all breath!
Yes I have seen all reds
but the purest shade,
Only on the 14th of the second month.

This Valentine's

Red is the colour of roses,

The colour of love
Red is the colour of your lips;
Succulent, as you sip on that red, red wine.
Today you’re mine and I’m all yours

it is all that matters,
the rest lets redefine.

Celebrate tonight,

forget these hearts can be broken
pay no attention to the possibility;
that love sometimes does not last.

Today we have each other,
have no worries about tomorrow
you look so fine in that red number
let’s love and dine this Valentine’s!

Let’s make new memories tonight

forget the past and all its hurts
let’s kiss away the scars!

read the stars in each other’s eyes
with our hearts and minds open to love,
forgetting in the moment we can be unfaithful,
gaze into one another’s eyes with renewed sincerity,

forget there were ever words;
like promiscuity and infidelity.

Our world,

let’s paint red with love!
Let us all be lovey dovey tonight
be the perfect romantics we can be
when we create new memories - paint them red

our words will be poetry;
that drips with blood red devotion.

A love symphony that melts our hearts

into streams of emotion

5

springs of replenishment for a life lived with passion
gentle lovers,

let’s love and dine this Valentine’s!

14 Days in February

Dear Sir Valentine, on this day

of the four letter word
Love;

sweet love is bred
under the moonlight,
where beloveds wed.
The weak at heart dare not thread
because this undefined art,
makes everyone go mad.

There are witches in the wind,

comforting each other with
pleasures of their seed,

seemingly loving helplessly
and showing inexorable affection,
As though they were high with weed.

Night falls,
so does the great and mighty
At the hands of love indeed,
the world will never reconcile
Mankind is vulnerable, to its effects.

Day and night will pass,

and the reality of humanity will stand
the illusion of affection will fade,
if there was love to share,
There is need for disparity.

Young Lord Alexandre,

you who was soon born in waves
lost in the darkness and days,
for the much exalted love’s rays
faded away in the shadows of
hypocrisy and phase.

Now in simultaneous sequence,

the young maiden
now reeks of the monster’s rage
ready and hungry to feed on the ideality of revenge.
With the wasted time and feelings,

she seeks to revenge

7

thus she turns the tables,
in the next passion page.

The death of passion now outweighs,

the air we breathe
the world becomes a nurse of all we know,

the mother of what we feel
this death becomes a fearful blow to the mind

complexes with nerves of steel,
all we know and feel shall pass,

like an unreal mystery.

Children of the later age,

yours is not to learn by example
rather bask in the ideals
of pure instinct

for there is no explanation
for your ancestors passing dirge.

Passion and love itself,
shall slumber awhile

Roses dead
A love story so sad.

Love,
the great architect of misery!

Let's Dance

All eyes on us;

The dragon can’t dance,
but are we the dragon?

Clasp me tight;
aglance into my sight,
divulge what you see, heed and feel
gawking into your eyes I see love,
it makes my torso vulnerable and nauseous,
give me a chance and let me
dig deep into your inner beauty.

Let me encounter the pleasures of pain,

look at the heaven’s smile, so divine!
It is in approval and not denial,
Isn’t it beautiful?

Our love is like a rose of the summer,
that blossoms with a romantic feel.
Come let’s prom together,
kiss me;
fondle me with a sentimental touch.
Let us sing in unison,
but when music rhythms start
Don’t scream, don’t make noise!
let it be in peace and tranquillity.

Together we can parade till dawn

with passion no one will regret it.
If we are to face the fallout of our fate;

Let’s face it concurrently.
Your body configuration takes me back,

it reminisces me of Eve,
you are my Eve.

The reason I breathe and among myriad;
You make me feel honourable and reputable.

The day we broke the yoke,

it improved the inner person in me
you compel me to be responsible and liable

my world’s perception of love altered,
it all occurred so fast;

9

that I even forgot my past and my lust
for other women.

Come to the torrent hold my hand;

Don’t say a word
follow my footsteps unhurriedly

you won’t get lost.
We are spiritually affiliated,

let’s dance one more time
before the moon goes back to the mother earth!
Eavesdrop to me when I whisper in your dreams,

from afar,
Let’s dance slowly but undoubtedly.
Nature will celebrate us as one body

In two distinct souls!

To My Valentine

You are the moon, I am the sun

the moon that embraces the sun
you call me just like the moon calls the ride,

you are all over me like a spell and
I am drowning deep into this magical charm.

When they ask me the definition of love,

you are the definition of my love
you have taught me the true meaning of love

in you I have found a star,
a star that shines brighter

than all the other stars.

You deserve to be loved,

I will make sure you get what you deserve
with every passing second,

my love for you grows and gets stronger
you brighten up my life!

The first time I fell in love with you,

My life changed forever
and no matter how hard I try,
the feeling never goes away
love is a strange concept isn’t?

My valentine;

blood is for the heart,
heart for love, love for you,

you for me, I for you,
and I love you.

Thelma S. Xamu

11

Love

Like Eve created for Adam,

so were you created for me.
For my life is bliss

because of the warmth you have brought,
without notice

Openly I declare my affection

in the hopes of monopolising your attention,
to only my gentleness

for I can never share you,
you were made for me

Violently my love is dangerous

because you are my sense in confusion
as if my life is a dream

always at the front of my mind
while all is at the back of my head

Eternally may everyday be a bliss

each day being a memory
of the strength we possess
for you will forever remain my Romeo

and I your Juliet.

Oh Sweet Love

Love, kind and pure

colourless so seems far off from offending,
accepting inequality and beautifying.
Love is so natural,
moving in all directions.
Oh sweet, sweet love!

Sweet is love yet has no taste

love is like a rose,
yet underneath are thorns,

love is one word,
yet pregnant with deep affection

love holds no grudges,
oh, sweet, sweet love!

Like sweet melodies, sounds love

yet no beat is found
love honours even in darkest times.

Expensive is love,
yet no value is put on it.

‘Be my valentine and feel loved,

oh sweet sweet love!’

3 Words

I have waited for so long to say,

“I love you.”
It’s funny how three words

can make one shiver
they hold millions of unspoken emotions
and now that I had said it, I just held my breath,

waiting for his reaction.

I could tell that he was amazed!

But he couldn’t utter a single word
the lady made the first move,

instead of the other way round!
I had turned the tables, I couldn’t hold myself,

I couldn’t hide my feelings,
who knows the world might end tomorrow.

The love I had for him was beyond,

I knew he was shocked,
so I whispered to his ear,
“I want to be your end game.”
I walked away with my head held high
behind me a voice shouted!
“You are my end game, dinner tonight?”
As I walked away, I smiled and deeply felt that,
Three words can change everything!

Annacleta Tshabalala

14

Union
Cut me deep, plant your heart

before I bleed,
fill me with your love
for my love shall be as beautiful as art.

Let it blossom,
as the sweet roses above.

My skin;

ever redolent of your presence
longing for that velvety touch

mind crumbles in hope,
In your absence.
heart dying;

to live without an ouch.

An endangered heart,

is what you brought from the mountain.
Let me love it, before it turns dry
For a kiss from you
is as refreshing as a fountain,

in my arms your soul may come to cry.

Love Poem

Future Valentine,

when I’m a little older and a little bolder
I will be your long awaited solder!
I will find the key,
the key that opens the gate
to a place where there’s no hate,
but only love for eternity.

Our sweet world oh, dear mate

where hearts converge and beat
at the same rate!

I will find the map to my core being
saturated by this inner feeling,
leading straight to your path.

We’ll hopefully have a fresh new start,
with you forming a new solid team.
Oh, I’m still holding onto the dream
a team stronger than all!

You and I tied together like a wire ball,

catching each other even when we fall
with you I just want to freely roll
where love swallows us whole,
forever is what we will only know.
Seasons will change with wind
and people will come and go,

but I will always be there for you
my future valentine!

I’m telling you this so you’ll know

my love for you is too deep,
too strong and too warm

for any kind of worldly evil grip.
We’ll stand through every worst strip
so I’ll follow my heart for the first time
and I’ll leave all my worries behind.

Love is a Choice.

‘I love you,’ such a famous phrase

‘Why?’
most people would respond.
What happens when the reasons do not hold?
Is love a function with prescribed inputs?
Is love an equation with conditions and constraints?
Should love have reasons?

Love should not just be verbalized,

love is an action verb
love is not an effect of certain conditions,

but love is a choice
choosing to love you is dependent,

on the good qualities you have
love is consistent,

not determined by people’s actions and behaviours
it does not fluctuate with times and seasons.

Love is as the creator, designed it to be!

He loved with no reason and still,
loves us despite how we behave.
Love is vocalized loudly by small actions
love begins from loving yourself,
loving yourself gives you experience
needed to love another person.

Love binds to become one with one another

love is not hard
it is beautiful!
Love can be hard when we have conditions
yet we can love with no conditions,
just as a parent loves a child!

My love,
I love you not because of anything you do

but because I chose to.

I choose to love you as I love myself

I choose to consider you as I consider myself,

17

my love for you will forever be consistent
you are perfect for me

because that is how I choose to view you,
love is beautiful,
we are beautiful.

My Valentine

In what way shall I describe,

your love for me my valentine?
With what words shall I express,
the way you warm this heart of mine?

I am quite and utterly overwhelmed

you my love, make me speechless
the flames of your love my valentine,

burn me up till I am breathless.
I search in vain for complex words,

to make a fool of myself I dread.
I am forever mesmerized by you.

Your love for me is simply as,
‘A, e, i ,o, u!’

Your love is,

amazing beyond mathematical measure,
exceptional, science cannot analyse further
insensitive to my unpleasant lopsided history,

original, it creates instant chemistry
Uberous is your love, it is air itself.

Be my valentine now and forever,

nothing shall pull us assunder
you love me and I love you,
none other, simply you.

Velvet

I never said Valentine,

I said Velvet
I talked of tenderness,
I talked of soothing smoothness,
quality and quantity put together,

is all I said!

I did not only talk of it but I acted to deliver,

even in my hour of need
I made sure you were never in need,

even now, I am committed
to make sure you shine,

to make sure you feel and enjoy love.

Every day being a special day

my actions are testament to that
I am curving a sculpture of love,
something the world will see and learn.

They will learn and know
that true love exists

through your swimming in love.

I have to love you,

not only today or tomorrow
but forever, even more than I loved you yesterday

I am manacled to purity and perfection

Velvet is what I said;
in the definition of my love for you.

I choose to reinforce that today,

to make sure Valentine’s Day
has a new meaning to you
to make sure I inspire you
to love me back,
it is all love.

I love you!

Love is a Connection

He connected with Anna,

they said she was fat,
an imperfect match

but with Pearl
He will blend!

She fell for Bruce,

they said he’s an eyesore
‘Bruce is bad and broke,
no roses and dinners.
Your league is Dennis.’

Len learnt love isn't lust

a knot they tied
all he got was lies.
Money isn’t love,
she learnt many times.
He gave her gifts,
Still he tasted other lips!

Love is a connection

it goes beyond a bank balance,
appearance it cares not!
No calculations;

No deception and disguises!

Love is a connection

they’re real to the core,
gentle and genuine
thoughts in union,

he says what she will say
she finishes his sentences.

Best friends,
they connect, click and cling.

Blissful ecstasy!

When you connect with her,

when you connect with him
no one has a say

21

no role to play;
no chance to disconnect,

the love connection!
