locking mechanism on the door and allow for it to swing freely. When the door is closed,

These are usually used for commercial applications such as in hotels because they have a
longer arm than residential closers which is meant to give them more leverage so they can
close faster and with added force. This is usually desirable, especially if you have thick doors
or heavy doors which are hard to close.
