FOREWORD English Form 4 Online Activity Book serves as a teacher’s manual that provides suggestions on how to facilitate the teaching process in the classroom and also make lessons more effective and exciting. All of the selected units presented in the book incorporate all the skills stipulated in the CEFR-aligned syllabus and are arranged according to the MOE textbook, KSSM, for easy reference. Besides, each of the suggested activities consists of at least two out of four language skills such as: listening, reading, writing, and speaking, along with two additional skills such as grammar and vocabulary, which these help students to improve their performance as the activities are comprehensive and varied in technique and level of difficulty which is ideal for honing the skills needed.

SOCIAL NETWORKING SITES

MIND MAP Mode: Individual Difficulty: Intermediate Skills: Writing and Speaking skills Studeef skill that will be focused in this lesson involves writing and speaking. In this activity, the The teacher will introduce the topic to the students by asking general questions in regards to the topic and find out their understanding on social networking sites. Teacher will then instruct the students to find out more about the social networking sites that they are familiar with. For this activity, students will need to choose one social networking site of their choice and present their findings to the class. To help with their presentation, students will be given a worksheet containing questions pertaining to the topic and added materials such as manila cards and markers.

Instruction: 1. Teacher will introduce about the lesson’s topic. 2. Teacher will ask students general questions in regards to the topic mentioned. 3. Teacher will instruct students to find out about all the social networking sites that they know. 4. Teacher will distribute Manila cards and markers for each student to use for their mind map. 5. Teacher will then ask the students to pick one of the social networking site that they know and search more information regarding the site that they have chosen (teacher may only allow to students to present if they have chosen the same site). 6. Worksheets will be distributed to further help guide the students in their presentation. 7. Each student will present their findings in the form of a mind map. 8. After all students have presented, teacher will give a brief conclusion pertaining to the topic.

SOCIAL NETWORKING SITES Studthis lesson, the skill that will be focused In on is writing. In this activity, the teacher will introduce the topic to the students by asking general questions in regards to the topic. To further identify the students’ understanding in the topic, teacher will distribute a worksheet and each student is required to analyse the information present in the given worksheet. For this activity, students will need to write an essay based on the issue in the given worksheet. When the time is up, students will need to present their essay to the whole class.

Instruction:

1. Teacher will introduce the lesson’s topic. 2. Teacher will ask students general questions in regards to the topic mentioned. 3. Teacher will distribute worksheets to the students. 4. Each student is required to analyse the information present in the given worksheet. 5. Teacher will ask the students questions pertaining to the topic without the students referring to the given worksheet. - What do you understand about cyberbullying? - Have you seen or experienced cyberbullying? - What do you think cyberbullying leads to? 6. Teacher will then ask the students to write an essay based on the topic in the given worksheet. 7. The time given for them to complete the essay is 20 to 25 minutes. 8. When the time is up, students will need to present their essay to the whole class.

10 Studminutes before class starts, the teacher will ask the students to find a figure or person they admire. After 10 minutes of searching their admire person, the teacher will send Google Meet link to the students, class will continue through virtual. Before the teacher asks about a person that students’ admire, the teacher will tell them who is the figure that he or she admires is, and what are the reason. Next, the teacher will ask the students’ opinion on why people will follow the figure that we admire. After the discussion, the teacher will ask the students to scan the QR barcode to access to Google form. At the Google form, there will be questions for the students to answer.

Instruction:

1. After a long discussion with the students about figure that they admire in the Google Meet, the teacher haa to asks the students to scan QR code to access to the Google Form. 2. In Google form, there are several questions needs to be answer. 3. Before that, the teacher needs to explain on how the students answer the questions. 4. The students are required to write a short essay about who is the figure or a person they admire. 5. Students will be given 20minutes to answer the question in the Google form. 6. After 20minutes, the students need to enter the Google meet again and the teacher will check the students’ answer in the Google form. 7. After the checking process, the students are required to present their answer to their friends.

Students are required to get ready for anything to guess the emoji given. Each group will be given 30seconds to guess all the emoji given.

Instruction:

1. Before the end of the class, the teacher will ask the students to play a game to refresh the students after a long discussion in the class. 2. Students must get ready and have basic knowledge about occupation, country and movie title. 3. The teacher will explain how to play the game. Then, the teacher share screen the slides and ask the first group to raise hand in the Google meet and get ready to answer once the slide is open. 4. Once done with the game, the teacher will give the answer of all the questions.

Before answering the questions, students are required to read the text given by the teacher from Google Classroom platform. After reading the text, students will be given time to answer questions based on the short story through the Quizlet.

Instruction:

1. Students will be given 1 text short story entitled Adventure of Tom Sawyer in Google Classroom. 2. In the online class, students are given 15 minutes to read and understand the path written by Mark Twain. 3. Students will be given QR Code through WhatsApp to scan so that they can access into Quizlet platform. 4. After that, will able to answer the questions on the Quizlet platform. 5. Students are not allowed to imitate or discuss with fellow students.

Difficulty: Low Skills: Listening skills Stud Listen and Write the Information Base on Youtube is an activity that requires students to listen carefully to every information presented in the video. Each student has to write any information based on the video. Teacher will share Youtube videos to students through Google Meet platform.

Instruction: 1.

Teacher will prepared 1 video from Youtube for student to watch.

2.

Students will be given question papers based on video.

3.

Students need to listen carefully and answer all the questions given in the question paper.

4.

The duration of the video is 3 minutes 30 seconds. Students will be given 5 minutes for each video rotation to listen and answer questions.

5.

Discussions between students are prohibited.

6.

This video only replayed 2 times before students are required to submit answer sheets.

GUESS THE PRICE Mode: In Groups Difficulty: Intermediate Skills: Speaking and Listening skills Studeefretgerhgerwill be divided into groups (3-4) members per group. They will have to discuss Students and guess the name of the items as well as the price of common online shopping items. After guessing the price, they will debate among their peers for the reason of their chosen price. After all the team had presented their prices, the teacher will reveal the actual price.

Instruction: 1. Teacher will divides students into groups. Students are able to pick the members of their group, so long the amount of members are less or equal to 4 person. 2. Teacher then will create a breakout rooms for all the groups 3. Teacher then will project the ‘common online shopping items’ via share screen on Zoom to all the groups. 4. Teacher then will give students time to see all the pictures, discuss among themselves, and to jot down the price. (Approximately 6-9 Minutes) 5. Teacher will end the breakout room. 6. Teacher will then share screen the pictures of the items again for the whole class to see. 7. The groups may have different representative for each round. The said student then will state their price and reasoning for their answers. 8. Other groups/students may object or agree to the answer by giving their own answer/reasoning. (Approximately 1-2 Minutes per group) 9. After each group had answered; the teacher will reveal the price and move on to the next item until all items are shown and discussed/answered. (Approximately 15-20 Minutes)

Whilst listening to the text, they will have to answer the question from the question sheets that will be distribute later. They will have two chances to listen to the text. After answering the questions, the teacher will reveal the answer to the classroom to discuss it together with the students.

Instruction: 1.Teacher will share their screen with the questions. Or ask the students to scan the QR Code to get access to the questions. 2. After giving the opportunities for the students to open the question, or copy the questions onto a piece of paper. Teacher will once again inform the class that the audio will be played twice and they need to answer the questions based on the audio replay. 3. Teacher then will play the audio file twice in succession. 4. After students answered the question, teacher will discuss with the whole classroom regarding the answer as well as referring back to the audio recording for confirmation.

about verbs from two songs which are Butter by BTS and The Feels by Twice. The platform for this activity is Spotify. Aside from the catchy beats, the other reasons why these songs are chosen are because most teenagers these days are really into KPOP. Therefore, by using these two songs by BTS and Twice who are some of the most famous KPOP groups in the world, the students will feel more engaged and interested towards the topics they will be learning. Basically, they will need to listen to the songs and then will be required to identify verbs from the songs they heard and form new sentences.

Instruction: 1.

Teacher will play the songs one by one via Spotify.

2.

Teacher the ask students simple questions about the songs: a) Do you know these songs? b) Who are the singers of these songs? c) Do you like KPOP?

3.

Teacher will ask the students to identify verbs from the songs.

4.

Teacher will then play the songs one by one once again.

5.

After finding verbs from the songs, students need to select 5 verbs and form new sentences.

FILL IN THE BLANK SPACE Mode: In Groups Difficulty: Intermediate Skills: Listening and Writing skills Stud In this activity, “Blank Space” by Taylor Swift will be used. The song can be accessed from Spotify, YouTube and other platforms as well. Each student will be getting a piece of paper containing “Blank Space” lyrics. However, the lyrics are not complete as there will be some words that are not included in the song (Appendix 5.0). Therefore, the students will be required to listen to the song and try to identify the correct words. That is the reason why the name of this activity is “Fill in The Blank”.

Instruction: 1.

Teacher explains to the students about the activity for the topic.

2.

Teacher gives the questions sheet to each student.

3.

Song “Blank Space” by Taylor Swift will be played by the teacher.

Students will then need to answer the questions as the song is playing.

1. Teacher will distribute question sheet before the class begin. Via methods such as Google Form, Words, or Typeform. 2. Teache then will share their screen for the whole class to see. 3. Teacher will explain to the students that they are going to have a virtual field trip to the Amazon Rainforest. Remind them to pay attention to the information shared. 4. Initiate the Virtual Field Trip and let the students participate while filling in their question form. 5. Repeat the virtual field trip if necessary. 6. Discuss the answer with the whole classroom whilst referring to the virtual field trip clip.

They will play the game with the prepared instructions and rules. Throughout the game, they will be required to answer vocabulary questions related with the topic and they will need to answer correctly in order to win. The questions are consisted of 3 levels which are easy, medium, and hard. They will have the opportunity to discuss among group members about the questions. The first group who reach the finishing line will be the winner. By using this material in this activity, the students will be able to learn about vocabulary in a much more fun and engaging way.

Instruction:

1. Teacher will divide students into groups. 2. Teacher will then show the game board to the class. 3. Rules of the games will be shown and explained by the teacher. 4. Before starting the game, each group will need to play “rock, paper, scissor” to determine who will play first. 5. Instruction:

activity are speaking and reading. In this activity, students will be introduced to the topic by reading the passages in the worksheet given. Teacher will then discuss the questions provided together with the whole classroom. During the course of the lesson, students will need to prepare an introductory speech to appeal to their audience and to the main judge which is the teacher. Students will also need to figure out their statement of fact regarding the topic given following confirmation or proof to support their statement. Aside from that, students are also required to refute their opposition’s argument to further reinforce their standpoint. After the activity has ended, the teacher will then open a classroom discussion on the important matters regarding the topic of the lesson.

1. Teacher will distribute a worksheet and ask a few students (at random) to read the passages given. 2. Teacher will discuss the questions in the worksheet together with the whole class. 3. Teacher will then divide the students into groups consisting of three to four students (may vary depending on the total number of students). 4. Each group will pick a random piece of paper prepared by the teacher which consists of the topic and to determine whether they are in the affirmative team or the opposition team. 5. After all groups are assigned with their topics, the teacher will give the students 25 to 35 minutes to prepare their arguments. 6. After all groups have presented, the teacher will take this time to briefly discuss matters involving the main theme of the lesson.

The material used is created through Canva where the teacher will explain the rules of the game that has already been provided. During the course of this activity, students are given the space to discuss the answers between their group members and write the answers on a piece of paper that they need to prepare prior to the game starting. After the game has finished, students will exchange their answer sheets and check the other group’s answers during classroom discussion. From this material, students will be able to engage their learning and focus on the important skills mentioned which are reading and writing.

Instruction:

1. Teacher will introduce the topic to students. 2. Teacher will ask students on their understanding of the topic mentioned. 3. Teacher will then divide students into groups. 4. Each group will need to prepare a piece of paper and pen. 5. Teacher will then show the game to the class. 6. Before starting the game, teacher will explain the rules of the game. 7. When all groups assigned and ready, teacher will begin the game. 8. Difficulty: Intermediate Skills: Reading and Writing skills Stud At bthe early stage of the teaching and learning process, the teacher should give the insight to introduce the students to photo manipulation virtually through the platform Google Meet. There should be a question and answer session in the form of a short classroom discussion to check and evaluate the students’ comprehension of the topic. Once done, the teacher may proceed to conduct the activity to test the students’ understanding in depth by asking the students to scan the QR code and answer the several questions given.

Instruction:

1. Before conducting the activity, teacher should prepares the students by briefly explaining about photo manipulation through Google Meet. Then, teacher may ask the following questions: a. Are you influenced by the way celebrities look? b. Would you change everything about yourself to look like a celebrity? c. What are the examples of photo manipulation that you have seen on the internet/social media? 2. After the short classroom discussion, teacher will ask the students to scan the QR code of the Google Form for them to answer questions regarding the topic. 3. Once all of the students have answered the questions, teacher will perform question and answer session with the students. The whole learning and teaching process for activity 1 is expected to be completed within 40 minutes before conducting next activity.

1. To perform this activity, students must at least have basic knowledge regarding what is vocabulary and how it is used in sentence constructions. The teacher has to guide the students, especially slow learner students. 2. After, the teacher will give a QR code for students to scan and enter Kahoot! platform and wait for all students to enter. 3. Once done with the activity, the teacher will analyse questions that students got wrong and go through the questions with them.

MINI RESEARCH PROJECT Mode: In Groups Difficulty: Advanced Skills: Speaking skills Stud Mini Research Project

requires students in groups of 4 to analyse The Starry Night, an oil-on-canvas painting by the Dutch Post-Impressionist painter Vincent van Gogh. Students are asked to create a short creative video containing the painter’s autobiography, exciting facts about the painter, and the background of The Starry Night painting.

Instruction:

1. The teacher will introduce the students to the famous painting of Vincent van Gogh, entitled The Starry Night. 2. Teacher may ask the students how they feel about the painting or several questions about the famous painter. 3. After the short classroom discussion, the teacher will ask the students to form a group of 4 students. Each group will have a leader to lead and help segregate tasks among group members. 4. Teacher will explain the activity’s instruction clearly. Students are required to create a creative video about Vincent van Gogh and the chosen painting. 5. Students are to be left alone with their group members to discuss the task. The teacher will ask the students to use their discussion time wisely and they will be given two days to complete the task. 6. Teacher asks students to be prepared to present the video in class virtually through the Google Meet platform in the next class.

The teacher will ask the students what they have learnt about Pablo Picasso and his paintings. There will be a short classroom discussion. 4. Then, the teacher will start to brief about the task. Students will be given two weeks to complete a medium-sized canvas painting inspired by one of their choices of Picasso’s quotes. 5. After two weeks, the teacher will conduct a virtual gallery art show through the Google Meet platform. Each of the students will present their art in the class.
